Festivals
Besides being a destination for sun-lovers, cycling enthusiasts and nature-lovers, Chalkidiki is equally appealing to foodies. Every year in June, the Sani Gourmet Food Festival takes place and brings together Michelin-starred chefs from Greece and abroad, creating innovative dishes. Attendees get to discover new flavours, attend workshops and presentations and take part in tasting sessions.
Then there is the Sani Festival of music, from July to August, held at Sani hill, with a beautiful medieval tower and the sea as a backdrop, though several other locations are also used. Additionally, the Kassandra Festival also taking place throughout July and August in Siviri, features a wide range of music, including traditional and contemporary music from across the globe. And for Greek music lovers, the Polygyros Festival is held throughout August and features folklore music artists and bands from Greece.
Feast of Agios Mamas
Among the most famous feasts in Chalkidiki is the feast of Agios Mamas . It is organized by the locals every first week of September where thousands of people come to the village in order to participate in the event. The feast of Agios Mamas is being characterized for its strong commercial and cultural interest. It is estimated that every September come to Agios Mamas more than 1000 exhibitors and over 200000 visitors.
Festival of the Sea
The top cultural event is undeniably the Festival of Sea which takes place in Nea Moudania It monopolizes the nights of the locals and visitors who are able to attend high quality theatrical performances and enjoy the full of Music evenings. An area with more than 2000 seats just a few meters away from the sea. The theatre embraced east of the peninsula of Kassandra and in front of it unfolds the vastness of the Aegean Sea. On the west side visitors of the Festival of Sea can also enjoy the unique sunsets of Chalkidiki having as background Mount Olympus.
Varvara Festival
The Varvara Festival takes place in Varvara in Chalkidiki and its an effort of time of the Cultural Association Varvara which with passion cares about the connection of the area with today’s habits since Varvara is a small region which is located in a mountain area of Chalkidiki.
Well-known artists all these years support this cultural movement of the locals. Among them famous names of the Greek music scene such as Sokratis Malamas, Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Christos Thivaios, Glikeria, Melina Aslanidou, Melina Kana, Nikos Portokaloglou, Mario and others.
The Varvara Festival is an opportunity for visitors to attend music concerts and enjoy the magnificent climate which the region of Varvara of offers during the summer months, the natural beauty of this area of Chalkidiki and taste the local cuisine as well.
